MBC Show 'Dad Where Are We Going?' To Release Russia-Vietnam Versions

The Korean variety program "Dad, Where Are We Going?" is going international in ways that producers probably never thought it would.

Vietnam and Russia "have completed copyright contracts with the media company and will be releasing their own versions of the show" in the near future, according to MBC officials.

The Vietnamese team visited Korea to watch the original team at work, observing the process of the production of the show, reported Oh! Kpop.

For those who have yet to watch the show, it is centered on 6 celebrity dads and their children who bond through their adventures and hardships outdoors.

Before producers in Vietnam and Russia had been in talks about creating their own versions of the show, China completed a contract with MBC and had already begun running the Chinese version of "Dad, Where Are We Going?"

The Chinese edition premiered in October 2013 after the contract was finalized in April.

Having just 1% of viewer ratings puts a television show on the map in China. The Chinese version of "Dad, Where Are We Going?" has received a high rating of 4%, continuing its success nearly after a year since it first aired.

The reality television show was such a hit in China that it was adapted into a movie with the same name, garnering more than $40.8 million in its first three days of release, including nearly $15 million on its first day, according to the LA Times.

The movie adaptation of "Dad, Where Are We Going?" hit the record for a 2-D Chinese film.

The Korean version of the MBC show has been going through a couple changes earlier this May, with the addition of actor Jung Woon In and his daughter, Jung Se Yoon, according to Allkpop.

The families and the crew met up to go to Jeongson, Gangwon-do for their first trip together.
