INFINITE's MV For "Last Romeo" Is Fresh, While Drawing Similarities To "The Chaser" [Review]

After being delayed, INFINITE finally released the music video for "Last Romeo," and the group definitely didn't disappoint.

"Last Romeo" shows off INFINITE's best points, and also begs some comparisons to earlier INFINITE music videos, specifically "The Chaser."

The music video for "Last Romeo" showed off INFINITE's in the best manner possible. The concept is mature and shows how INFINITE has grown over the past five years, when comparing it with songs like their debut track, "Come Back Again."

The backdrops are dark and mysterious; the storyline takes place in what appears to be a haunted library, while the group dance scenes have two different backdrops: A clock tower that is reminiscent of Big Ben in London and a dark room filled with a chandelier and candelabras.

Woohyun acts as the Romeo, who can't find his Juliet, who keeps evading him as he spots her. The two reach for each other, but can never touch.

It was a nice touch to use Woohyun as the lead of the music video, rather than the more popular actors in the group, L and Hoya. Woohyun is one of INFINITE's lead vocalists, so more often than not the focus is on his voice rather than his skills as an actor.

The dancing is, as usual, perfectly synchronized.

Throughout the video, there are similarities to INFINITE's 2012 music video for "The Chaser." The dance moves, such as reaching across the chest, and rap sequences are a bit similar, but it is the mood lighting and the chase scenes throughout the video that draw comparison. Both songs also discuss protecting the object of their desire, even though she is out of reach.

The group also used similar promotions for each album- For "The Chaser," INFINITE flew around Korea and in one day performed in several different cities. For "Last Romeo," INFINITE performed showcases in three different countries.

INFINITE released the music video for "Last Romeo" on May 20. It was originally delayed because of the Sewol Ferry tragedy.

The group also released their latest full-length album, "Season 2."
