Roger Federer Roland Garros French Open 2014: So Far So Good, But Underprepared Because Of Twins?

Roger Federer, the 17-time Grand Slam winner, coasted into the second round of the 2014 French Open after an easy 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 win over Slovakia's Lukas Lacko. With his wife Mirka and 5-year-old twin daughters watching him from the stands, Roger Federer barely even broke a sweat getting over his first hurdle on Roland Garros' clay court. The tennis player has never been a favorite at the French Open, but Roger Federer, at the age of 32, is still vying for another trophy to add to his collection. After adding another set of twins to his family. This time, boys.

Earlier this month, Mirka Federer gave birth to another set of twins, this time two boys called Leo and Lenny. They say that they "can't be happier" with the arrival of the twins, but this meant that Roger Federer had to pull out of many of his summer clay-court games that he usually plays to prep for his biggest challenge of the season, French Open. Federer has only clocked in at two clay-court tournaments this season. He skipped out on the Madrid Open with the news of his twins.

"I wasn't nervous actually going into the match. It's more just like those hints of fear, maybe yesterday, maybe this morning at one point, just for like five seconds, 'Oh, I really hope I don't have to pack my bags today,' that kind of feeling," Roger Federer said after his second match on Court Philippe Chatrier, the main stadium at the French Open.

Sounds like somebody is a little too confident. He may have to be a bit more on his toes seeing his lack of practice going into Roland Garros.

Roger Federer is famous for not doing so hot on clay surfaces. He dominates on grass, which is his preferred surface to play, and has taken many titles on Wimbledon. But the clay title has been elusive. Federer has only won the title once at Roland Garros back in 2009 when he was lucky enough to have the Swede player, Robin Soderling, take out Rafael Nadal earlier in the tournament.

"I was happy seeing, getting early signs out of the match that I was actually playing well and I was going to get my chances I was looking for," Federer said. "My personal life, as we know, it's all great, so I'm happy the family is here."
