X-Men Apocalypse Revealed To Be Set In Early 1980's, May Include Channing Tatum as Gambit [PHOTO]

Simon Kinberg, writer and producer of the X-Men franchise has revealed that X-Men: Apocalypse will be set in 1983, ten years after "Days of Future Past," which was set in 1973. Kinberg made the announcement during a podcast about the latest installment, X-Men: Days of Future Past.

There has also been a lot of speculation about the inclusion of Channing Tatum as Gambit, 'I would do anything to be in those movies,' the 34-year-old actor recently told Screen Rant. Adding, "'I mean, I love the Marvel world and what they've created as a real brand and they've sort of changed the face of the industry. I would be in anything they put up, especially Gambit."

The next movie will include Magneto, played by Michael Fassbender, and Professor X played by James McAvoy. They will be joined by co-stars from "Days of Future Past:" Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Evan Peters as Quicksilver, and Nicholas Hout as Beast. There also has been confirmation that the next installment will include younger versions of the classic main X-Men, including Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm, Gambit (who may be played by Channing Tatum), and possibly Nightcrawler.

This film will be set almost twenty years after X-Men: First Class, which means we could see some intense artificial aging, through makeup or special effects, for McAvoy and Fassbender.

There is no word yet as to how the character Apocalypse, the world's oldest mutant, will be introduced into the series. In the comic books, Apocalypse's various powers include flight, invulnerability, superhuman strength, teleportation, telekinesis, making him pretty much all the X-men rolled into one.

Days of Future Past has already surpassed 200 Million at the box office, and is the highest grossing film of the summer, still in sixth place at the box office weeks after its release. X-Men: Apocalypse is scheduled for UK release on May 19, 2016 and a US release on May 27, 2016.
