Five K-Pop & K-Drama Inspired Ways To Celebrate World Cup 2014

Korea is set to play against Russia in Brazil, as part of Group H for the 2014 World Cup at 6PM Eastern Standard time on June 17.

The game will undoubtedly be contentious for the Taeguk Warriors, who are in the same group as Algeria and Belgium.

Events like the MBC program “K-Pop Idol Futsal World Cup” have set the stage for Koreans to celebrate the upcoming match. In addition, Infinity Challenge will film their cheering team which includes B1A4's Baro, Jung Il Woo, and Park Myung Woo on the streets of Korea.

For viewers who are abroad, there are numerous events that are being held worldwide to support the Taeguk Warriors including a party at New York City's Circle Night Club which is co-hosted by the Korean American Community Foundation.

Fans who are watching the match at home can look towards K-Pop and K-Drama for inspiration to create a unique World Cup 2014 experience.

1. Take a cue from Enrique Geum (Yoon Shi Yoon) of “Flower Boy Next Door” and playing a soccer-themed video game against friends who are cheering for the opposing team.

2. Listen to the “Infinite Challenge” song “Victory,” which was created as a theme for the 2014 World Cup. “Victory” is an uptempo single which reflects the fighting spirit of Korea's team.

Fans of Big Bang and Kim Yuna will love their 2010 anthem of "Shout for the Red."

3. Watch the sporty idol drama “To the Beautiful You” which features actor Lee Hyun Woo as Cha Eun Gyul, a star high school soccer player. SM Entertainment's Choi Min Ho of SHINee and f(x) member Sulli lead the cast of this 2012 revamp of the manga-based drama “Hana Kimi.”

After watching the soccer action in “To the Beautiful You,” take to a local soccer field or park to play an impromptu game with friends.

4. Create a game day mix of new releases such as “Body” from Taeyang or “Dance With U” from BEAST.

5.The World Cup provides an excellent reason to get together with friends for a party. If you are of legal drinking age, draw inspiration from “You Who Came From The Stars” and throw a chicken and beer party. Otherwise, substitute the alcohol with mock cocktails or soda.
