Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones split might have been a thing of the past but he is still reflective about the moment he almost let his marriage life slipped away. The 69-year-old actor also expressed his disappointment after Edgar Wright walked away from "Ant-Man"

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones split last year reportedly due to his comments about getting throat cancer due to oral sex with his wife.

"First you have to admit that you made a mistake, then dealing with it is easy," he said in the Sunday interview withThe Sun. "Of course it's important to make mistakes, as long as you grow from them."

He also revealed that he has the tendency to take for granted people who love him. The good news, however, is he learned his lesson as he matured.

"When you're older you focus that energy on the people closest to you, on your family," he said.

Even after the Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones split in August, both celebrities didn't get around to filing divorce papers.

His 91-year-old mother, Diana Dill, earlier told NY Daily News that the split could be attributed to his battle with throat cancer and her own struggles with bipolar disorder.

"I knew they would work it out. They're both gentle people ... They've always been very affectionate and easy (with each other)," she said.

Meanwhile, Michael Douglas lamented the fact that director Edgar Wright ("Scott Pilgrim vs. The World") had to leave "Ant-Man" over creative differences.

He told Schmoes Know: "I was very disappointed. I am a big fan of his movies. It's a very disappointing situation. Happened very late in the game. I don't think anybody's quite recovered."

"My heart goes out to Edgar - he's been involved with the project for a long time. But he's talented enough that you'll be hearing a whole lot from him and I'm sure with a little vengeance," he added.
