Miami Heat News, Rumors, Predictions 2014: Heat Future Uncertain After NBA Finals Nightmare

Going to the NBA Finals this year, there have been a number of Miami Heat news, rumors and predictions especially about the upcoming Rookie Draft and Free Agency of several role players in the league.

Two weeks later, reporters, fans, and maybe Heat players themselves are asking what would happen to this team.

Back in the 2010-2011 season, the Heat lost to Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals. It was their first year as a true NBA Finals contender after LeBron James made his decision to go to Miami with long-time friend Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

However, that loss was certainly different from this one. While Miami ended an otherwise hopeful year on a sour note, a lot of reports and analysts see the team as a rising power not only in the East but also in the entire NBA.

Two years later and we saw how the Miami trio helped the franchise get two straight NBA Championships, one against the prime level of the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the other a stunning upset over the San Antonio Spurs which could have closed it out in Game 6 of that series.

However, that Spurs team has improved rather significantly when in entered the NBA Finals this year, and it dominated the entire series winning by an average of more than 18 points per game.

Now that San Antonio has won its fifth NBA title and Miami has been sent home to rethink, what would be the future of this squad? Rumors are pointing to a possible trade for New York's Carmelo Anthony, though that would certainly send the team's salary cap way above the limit.

However, the more logical one is to get a new starting point guard as Mario Chalmers performed miserably in this year's Finals. Some decent prospects include Kyle Lowry and Darren Collison.

Still, those trade rumors are only possible if James and Bosh, who will enter free agency, will return as Heat players.
