Kim Bum To Play Role In New Chinese Drama, 'The Micro Era Of Love' And Receives Much Attention

Actor Kim Bum will officially be making his acting debut in China.

The actor's agency, Kingkong Entertainment, stated that news of his role in the upcoming drama gained attention even before the drama aired. Kim has been getting requests for various endorsements and other promotions.

Kim's agency stated that they will be carefully choosing which offers to take up and will most likely be working with companies that will help the actor with long-run Chinese promotions.

The upcoming drama will reportedly be the Chinese version of "Gossip Girl." Kim will play the role of a premium restaurant owner.

Kim will be starring in the show alongside top Chinese actors, including Yang Mei, Zhou Bi Chang, Tang Wei Wei, Li Xi Rui and Chen Fa Rong.

The show will air on QQ.com on July 21.

Kim Bum visited China for a press conference to promote the drama. The actor looked clean and cut in a black suit for the promotion in Shanghai.

Kim debuted back in 2006 and starred in "Boys Over Flowers" with actors Jung Il Woo and Lee Min Ho. The 24-year-old is currently attending Chung-Ang University to continue his studies in the Film and Theater Department.

Kim's breakthrough role was in 2009, when he played the role of So Yi Hung in "Boys Over Flowers." He was then cast in "Padam Padam: The Sound of His and Her Heartbeats," where he was cast as a guardian angel, Lee Gook Soo.

The actor suffered from degenerative arthritis after losing about 25 pounds for his role in "Padam Padam," according to Soompi.

Kim initially received awards for being a fan favorite.

He won the "Netizen Popularity Award" for his role in "East of Eden" at the 2nd Korea Drama Awards back in 2008. This was his first award.

During the course of his career, he progressively became more and more recognized for his acting skills.

Kim was nominated for the "Best New Film Actor" award for his role in "The Gifted Hands" at the 49th Baeksang Arts Awards in 2013 and was also nominated for the "Excellence Award" for his role in "That Winter, The Wind Blows" at the SBS Drama Awards in 2013.
