'The Return Of The King' Revives JYJ And TVXQ Tension [Opinion]

JYJ is planning one final bow before Kim Jaejoong and Park Yoochun enlist, but there's something odd with the title of the trio's concert.

On June 26, JYJ announced "The Return Of The King," a concert that the group will hold in Seoul this August. The group also released a teaser for its upcoming album proclaiming the same thing earlier this week.

Some fans are upset and confused by this use of the phrase, considering the fact that TVXQ once claimed the same title in "Keep Your Head Down."

YouTube user Niel Villaflor said, "OMG... Quite a shocked when I see that "Return of the King" on the video... I mean, they are kings on their own rights. It's just, every time I hears or see that quote "the rerun of the king," it reminds me of TVXQ the most... Not hating, I love DB5K and TVXQ :) It's just that, I'm not use I it when someone is using it. [sic]"

Basboosa said, "'the return of the king'...seriously JYJ?! Seriously CJeS?! Can you like stop with this!? It's getting seriously pathetic. [sic]

JYJ famously departed TVXQ in 2009, and it was two years before a two-member TVXQ comeback with "Keep Your Head Down." At the time if release, there was some speculation that the lyrics were somehow aimed at now-rivals JYJ.

Since the split, the two groups have not encountered each other, and neither group discusses the current relationship with the other. Although TVXQ and JYJ have both made casual comments about what the situation was during the schism, fans have wondered about the members' current relationships.

With the lyrics and the concert title, both groups are claiming to be "the kings." And, despite the split, the original five TVXQ members are still some of the most popular idols in the world, so each group has some claim.

However, since TVXQ said the exact same words as JYJ's latest concert title in the first song that the duo released, JYJ's use of the words may be seen as being aimed at TVXQ.

Of course, it could just be a choice of wording, but that seems unlikely, considering how close of a comparison the two groups always draw to one another. It is rare to hear a discussion about JYJ that doesn't mention its origin, or a discussion about TVXQ that doesn't compare the duo to the original quintet.

It is unlikely that neither JYJ nor the concert's organizers have listened to "Keep Your Head Down." Therefore, it is difficult for them to say that they didn't realize that TVXQ re-debuted with those lyrics, claiming the group's importance.

By naming the concert "The Return Of The King," JYJ is continuing the conflict that began over five years ago.

JYJ's "The Return Of The King" will be held on August 9, and the album will be released in July.
