Super Junior's Shindong Records His Last Radio Show Before Enlistment

After six years, Shindong will hang up his headphones.

Super Junior's Shindong has been the DJ for the radio show Shimshimtapa for over six years, but in anticipation of the group's upcoming album and Shindong's upcoming army service, he held his last radio show on July 6.

Shindong became meloncholic as he remembered the last six years that he had run the radio show, but also expressed how happy he had been to partake in the show.

Shimshimtapa is a late night radio show on MBC Radio that aims to break the boredom of the lonely hours of the night. Shindong's ability to be both humorous and serious has led him to win awards for his DJ-ing skills.

As he ended his tenure on the show, Shindong revealed his heartfelt feelings. "I want to thank everyone who was with me for the past six years and three months. I still have a lot to learn but I was able to learn a lot through this show."

Shimshimtapa's official Twitter account tweeted several pictures dedicated to Shindong, and thanked him for the long run. Shindong also recieved a commemorative award from MBC.

Shindong also posted a video on his Instagram account, exclaiming his sadness over going to the studio for the last time.

Solo singer Jung Joon Young, known for his rock-inspired music and 4D (four dimensional) personality, will be taking over Shimshimtapa now that Shindong has stepped down from the role.

The idol will be working on his promotions as a Super Junior member in the next few months prior to his enlistment. Although his enlistment date has not yet been announced, it is expected that Shindong will enlist around the New Year.

Super Junior recently announced that it's seventh album will be released sometime this Autumn, most likely in September. The group also announced that it will be holding Super Show 6 in Seoul on September 20 and 21.
