The featured photo is in fact taken from the US Airways Flight crash in Hudson River in January 2009. Upon clicking the news link, the user will be directed to fake Facebook account. A pop-up box appears instructing the user to share the page in his or her own page in order to gain access to the video.

"But, even if you did share as instructed, you would still not get to see the video. After sharing, you will be told that you must complete a survey as a means of verifying your age. Alas, no matter how many surveys you complete, you will never get to see the promised video, which never existed to begin with," claimed Hoax Slayer.

These types of marketing ploys earn money based on the number of shares their Facebook page was able to acquire. For example, for every thousand shares, a particular amount of dollar will be awarded.

Internet users are advised to be more vigilant since some surveys go as far as capturing personal information such as phone numbers, addresses, and even credit card information. Users may likewise receive a continuous chain of promotional e-mails from marketers.
