K-Pop Rewind: g.o.d ‘To My Mother’

Legendary K-Pop male group G.O.D made a comeback last week with the release of their album “Chapter 8.” G.O.D was one of the first best-selling K-Pop groups, which helped to establish the trademark sound of JYP Entertainment.

G.O.D are considered forefathers of the K-Pop male group, along with artists such as H.O.T.

G.O.D made their debut as a five member group in 1999 with the album “Chapter 1.” The somber track “To My Mother” or “To Mother” was the first track to be released from the album.

“To My Mother” provides insight into the perspective children have after taking the numerous sacrifices made by their mother, for granted.

G.O.D followed the success of “Chapter 1” with subsequent other albums. Their sixth album was entitled “An Ordinary Day” and their seventh album “Into the Sky.” These two titles interrupted the chapter series.

The last release for G.O.D was “Into the Sky” in 2005, which led into a hiatus period. G.O.D was considered to be broken up following this period.

However, G.O.D has made a successful comeback with the newly released album “Chapter 8.” “Chapter 8” commemorates the fifteenth anniversary of the group
