The game, though not as exciting and well played as the last one produced a drama towards the end. An Argentine player fouled against Jurgen Klinsmann and got sent off the field with a red card. West Germany plucked up its energy and scored against its opponent, taking home the trophy.

Since then, neither of the teams has won a World Cup title.
