g.o.d's Son Ho Young Investigated For Illegal Drug Use

g.o.d just made a comeback, but may be facing some problems.

One of g.o.d's members, Son Ho Young, is facing a drug investigation just after the group made its long-awaited comeback.

The idol is being investigated for using Zolpidem, a sleeping medication. Sleeping medications are highly regulated in South Korea, and even sleep aids and supplements that are commonly accessible in other countries, such as melatonin, are hard to come by. The country's high stress and suicide rates have led South Korea to regulate certain medicines, including sleeping medications and stimulants.

Son Ho Young tried to commit suicide in May 2013, after his girlfriend was found dead in his car. He has since spoken about the difficult time, but it seems that in June prosecutors began an investigation to see whether Son Ho Young was using Zolpidem illegally.

MMO Entertainment, which represents the g.o.d member, issued a statement saying: "It is true that he took Zolpidem last year as a desperate measure. However, since that time, he hasn't taken it, which was proved by a recent drug test."

2NE1's Park Bom also recently came under scrutiny for importing a drug, amphetamine, that is easily accessible in other countries. However, both situations are illegal in South Korea due to the aforementioned tight restriction of mediciation that may lead to suicide or accidental death due to overexhaustion.

It seems unlikely that the case will put a halt to g.o.d's comeback activities, since it is widely known that Son Ho Young was having difficulties this past year. The fact that his company is being upfront about the fact that he was indeed taking the medication earlier on but now is not will hopefully be true, so that the case can be settled wiflty and Son Ho Young will be able to make his comeback with g.o.d as planned.

g.o.d recently released Saturday Night and held an anniversary concert in Seoul.
