The California Lake That Totally Rocks (Pun Intended)

Mono Lake is a large, shallow saline soda lake in Mono County, California, formed at least 760,000 years ago by volcanic activity. The lack of an outlet causes high levels of salts to accumulate in the lake. It's crazy salty and is home to some of the weirdest salt pillars you'll ever see. Mono Lake is also a vital habitat for millions of migratory and nesting birds.
