K-Pop Review: The First Collage
BEAST's lead singer, Yang Yoseob burst into the solo scene with his 1st solo mini album, The First Collage, which was entirely produced by fellow member, Yong Junhyung.
Going into this album I honestly wasn't expecting to be wowed at all, I wasn't even expecting much deviation from what we usually get from BEAST.
Let's face it though, "ì¹´íì¸ (Caffeine)" isn't too far a jump from the usual style of BEAST's songs. Heck the other members could have jumped in, started dancing, and it wouldn't seem strange. But, that doesn't stop this from being a great song. Yang Yoseob has done a great job, and he now stands from his members a little bit more, and let me say he and Yong Junhyung makes a sweet pairing, this should happen more often.
Compared to the rest of the album, "Look At Me Now" is really left field. It's a fun song, but it doesn't fit with the slow ballad-esque songs on the rest of the album. Also, I would have loved to hear Yong Junhyung feature on this track too. A rap would have made this song that much better. As it is, it feels like it's missing something.
Not only did this album do wonders for Yang Yoseob's individual image but it really strengthened Yong Junhyung's image as a producing, songwriting idol. He did a pretty solid job especially with the title song, and after listening to "ì¹´íì¸ (Caffeine)," I crave a self-produced solo album from Yong Junhyung!
