'Furious 7' Makes $140 Million On Opening Weekend; Paul Walker's Brother Planning To Pursue Acting

The latest installment to the long running "Fast and Furious" series, "Furious 7," has made over $140 million at the box office on its opening.

The film debuted over the Easter weekend and made an estimated $143.6 million.

Analysts previously estimated the movie would only rake it around $115 to $120 million at the most. But the film starring Paul Walker, Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson not only surpassed the early predictions, but also broke the record for highest grossing debut for an April film, beating 2014's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," which made $95 million.

"Furious 7" continued to rake in numbers internationally by raking in another $240 million, bringing it to a worldwide gross of $384 million.

This can be largely attributed to the film's social media accounts, which over the past year have provided the public with updates, behind-the-scenes photos and teases for the movie. Interest in watching Paul Walker's last film also played a central in the movie's box office success.

Many are expecting that the movie will hit $1 billion worldwide in the following days.

The film was originally to set for release last year in July, but production came to a halt following Walker's untimely passing in 2013 due to a car accident. Director James Wan proceeded with the film by bringing in Walker's brothers to step in for the late actor. Finishing touches were made by Peter Jackson's special effects studio WETA workshop, using CGI to attach Paul's face to his brothers.

Cody, Paul's youngest brother, meanwhile, plans on expanding his acting career.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cody is under the wing of his late brother's manager, Matt Luber of Luber Rocklin Entertainment. Both are reportedly meeting with several Hollywood talent agencies.

Despite not have any acting experience prior to "Furious 7," many are speculating that aspiring actor will appear in a future "Fast and Furious" installment.
