MTV Movie Awards 2013: Marvel’s "The Avengers" Wins The Movie Of The Year Award, Cast "Biebered" To Receive Brad Pitt-Presented Honor

A great looking Brad Pitt, who’s starring in upcoming film "World War Z", presented the Movie of the Year Award on Sunday night's MTV Movie Awards 2013.

The winner of the night's biggest honor was Marvel's "The Avengers". Accepting the award was creator of the film, Joss Whedon, who said that they were "biebered" to accept the award. The allusion to the Canadian singer was in reference to his self-serving comment at the Anne Frank House last Saturday.

Whedon thanked the film's producer, who "juggled making the biggest movies of all time while going through puberty" and the "hundreds and hundreds of artists who worked for years to make this movie as good as it can be, from storyboard to last sound tweet."

He also said that the Golden Popcorn honor was most important to him and announced that in 2015, they will be bringing to the public "The Avengers 2".

MTV's site described the year's winner for best movie: "It started in 2008 with a nerdy promise that one day all the heroes you grew up loving would not only appear onscreen, but together. 'The Avengers Initiative' sounded all well and good when it was just Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury at the end of 'Iron Man,' but to actually pull that off and make a compelling film was an entirely more complicated prospect. The Hulk, Captain America, Thor and Iron Man were larger-than-life characters that filled out their own movies, so to make them work as a unit in one film would be a precise balancing act. If becoming the biggest movie of all time equals success, we all know how that turned out."

Nominees for the category also included "Django Unchained", "Silver Linings Playbook", "Ted", and "The Dark Knight Rises".

The Movie of the Year category honors the most loved theatrical release of the season.
