Since 2015, Red Velvet's Wendy has been spending Chuseok, or the Korean Thanksgiving, alone, which she has already reasoned out before that it's because traveling to Canada takes two days. This has been a huge concern among Reveluvs, given that the occasion is meant to be spent with your family and loved ones to celebrate this year's feats and to pray for the approaching year. For idols, this is also a time to take a breather and rejuvenate.
Meanwhile, Wendy's band members Yeri and Joy also recently shared how they will spend the Korean Thanksgiving. Yeri said being with her family is "healing" for her.
"I hope that everyone I love will be healthy and happy. I want to be with them all for a very long time. This Chuseok, I think I'll find healing time while being with my family. I hope everyone eats delicious foods, meets the family members you've missed, and laughs abundantly," Yeri shared.
Joy, on the other hand, revealed that she's excited to be with her pet apart from being with her family.
"I'm planning to spend this Chuseok with my family and my pet dog Haetnim, eating delicious food. ReVeluvs, I hope you all have a Happy Chuseok! Eat a lot of delicious foods, and listen to Red Velvet!" Joy said.
The quintet also participated on the first day of the 2019 Idol Star Athletics Championships - Chuseok Special.
On August 20, Red Velvet released their latest mini-album, The ReVe Festival Day 2, which charted as No. 1 in various music platforms, such as in Naver, Bugs, Genie, and Soribada, and No. 3 in Melon. On the same day, they also released the official music video for the album's title song, Umpah Umpah.
The comeback was a huge success as the album ranked No. 1 on iTunes album charts in a total of 36 regions. This incldes Canada, United States, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Chile, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Germany, France, Netherlands, Greece, Poland, Sweden, Slovenia, Portugal, Romania, Bulgaria, Russia, Turkey, New Zealand, Australia, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Philippines, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, and Brunie.
