Some Netizens Say These K-Pop Idols Are Overhyped

Fame is ultimately the goal of every wannabe superstar and some are lucky enough to receive a portion of it in their career. While there are plenty of K-pop idols who are considered underrated, there are those who fans think are overrated, too. These artists are usually on the front page of news sites, mostly on social media trends, and get the attention of a colossal number of followers. Even their simplest SNS update can generate social media buzz.

According to some netizens, these K-pop idols are "overhyped."

TWICE's Tzuyu

Given that she is a pure visual, some would say that fans are hyping her name even if it is unnecessary. It even comes to the point that those who bias her would compare her dancing skills to TWICE's dance machine, Momo. Needless to say, she is insanely popular in and out of her group.

Kang Daniel

Prior to his solo career, some said that while he was still in WANNA ONE, Kang Daniel has been overrated. Netizens noted that he is given more attention than the other members of the group. He has always been in the center of the attention of the media, too.

BLACKPINK Lisa

Lisa is popular, and that is never a question. She is the most followed K-pop idol on Instagram. But some would say that she is overrated as an idol that those who express their constructive criticisms towards her will instantly get backlash and should become apologetic whether they like it or not.

BTS

They say that BTS is an overhyped K-pop boy group by their fandom, the ARMYs. It's not the artists to be blamed, but some K-pop enthusiasts believe that the ARMYs would drag these idols' names into a demeaning state. For instance, some fans would make statements that include their idol even if it is not related to the content. Thus, it generates trouble and hate and even drag the name of BTS.

Overhyped or not, they are still subjected to how people see them as performers who have different talents to showcase. Still, being one is an opportunity that not every individual is given a chance to grasp onto.
