MAMAMOO member Hwasa has something in store for her avid followers after maintaining a low-profile since the COVID-19 rocked the world. It was announced on Tuesday, Dec. 15, that the "HIP" singer will be working with Uhm Jung Hwa again.
Hwasa and Uhm Jung Hwa are Said to be Collaborating Once Again
Recent reports suggested that the MAMAMOO singer and her Refund Sisters co-member are working on another project together. Insiders have it that Uhm Jung Hwa would feature Hwasa in her imminent comeback track called "Hopin."
Uhm Jung Hwa put an end to the speculations when she released a teaser image of her upcoming return. The material was even labeled with the date December 22, which is likely the official release date of her new single. Uhm Jung Hwa's upcoming return will also mark her first solo music release after three years of drought.
Hwasa has yet to confirm her alleged collaboration with Uhm Jung Hwa, who recently promoted as a member of Refund Sisters. However, now that they are part of the same group, formed through the "How Do You Play?" variety show, it is not impossible for them to work together again.
Jessi and Lee Hyori are also members of the newly-founded group. What is confirmed, for now, is that the Refund Sisters will perform in the upcoming 2020 MBC Entertainment Awards and 2020 MBC Music Festival in late December.
MAMAMOO Member Hwasa Continues to Break Records as a Solo Artist
Meanwhile, the lead vocalist and rapper of MAMAMOO have been making waves as a solo artist. In fact, Hwasa released her new EP on June 25, 2020, with "Maria" as the title track. The songstress previously revealed that she considers the album as her diary that contains all the feelings and emotions she had as a 24-year-old lady.
Hwasa dominated music charts with her song "Twit," which was released on February 13, 2019. The track was included in Billboard's 25 Best K-pop Songs of 2019, Refinery29's Best K-pop Songs of 2019, and Rolling Stone India's 10 Best K-Pop Music videos of 2019.
"Twit," was also named as Song of the Year during the 9th Gaon Chart Music Awards. "Maria," on the other hand, was included in TIME's list of Songs and Album That Defined K-pop's Monumental Year in 2020.
For starters, Hwasa is known for being confident with her body. While she is being praised for her hourglass figure, many fans are not aware that she loves to eat a lot. The MAMAMOO member even divulged that gopchang, a dish with beef intestines, is her favorite.
A solid proof that Hwasa is among the most popular and trusted endorses in South Korea Is the fact that she aced the Korean Business Research Institute's brand reputation rankings for individual girl group members in July 2019. She even outshined WJSN member Bona and Red Velvet singer Irene after garnering a total of 73.95 percent positive reactions.
