Jang Gyuri Leaves fromis_9, Pledis Entertainment Explains Why

On July 28, Pledis Entertainment reported the unfortunate news about Jang Gyuri's departure from the girl group, fromis_9.

According to its official statement:

"Member Jang Gyuri will complete fromis_9 activities and contracts with us early as of July 31st and start a new challenge."

With this, Pledis hinted at what will happen to fromis_9 after the member's departure and added:

"fromis_9 will work under an eight-member system."

Furthermore, the company also explained why Jang Gyuri would be leaving the group, saying:

"The eight members signed a new exclusive contract with the company when they moved to Pledis in August 2021, but Jang Gyuri maintained its original contract terms signed with the previous agency. The decision was made after long consideration and consultation."

Thus, the company indirectly pointed out that the reason was ultimately due to contractual and corporate changes in their management.

In August 2020, the media outlet Newsen released an article saying:

"Popular idol F, who has recently been active in various fields, is showing internal signs. At the center of this division is G, a member born in 1997, who is in charge of brightness and energy in the team."

"G was invited to a group chat room where stars born in 1997 gathered earlier this year, and G said, 'My friends are all doing well, but what are you guys doing? Our team will eventually be left alone and ruin everything."

Since then, there has been a lot of speculation online that Jang Gyuri is the main character of the rumor, given that fromis_9's initials are "F" and Jang Gyuri (G) was born in 1997.

When the controversy erupted at the time, Jang Gyuri immediately addressed it on the V LIVE broadcast and said:

"F group G? I got a call from an acquaintance asking if this was me. I asked, 'What is this?' But that's not really me."

"We know it's not us, but I'm just upset (yes). If you don't know what article it is, you don't have to know. (But) I just saw it, and it was so ridiculous and funny."

While the female idol lambasted the rumors immediately, fans and internet users are curious whether the news was factual following her departure from fromis_9.
