Which Girl Groups Have Potential to Become Self-Produced? Purple Kiss, fromis_9, More!

If female idols are given more chances to become involved in their music, which group will potentially become a self-producing team? In context, self-produced groups are teams with members who are involved in writing the lyrics or melodies of the song and actively participating in the music production. This means that the idols were there from the beginning (musical arrangement, recording, etc.) till the end (editing, mixing, polishing the song's final version).

In the K-pop scene, SEVENTEEN, BTS, Stray Kids, PENTAGON, etc., are some popular self-produced groups. Meanwhile, EXID, MAMAMOO, and (G)-IDLE are a few of those considered self-produced among girl groups.

It is truly rare for female idols to have the opportunity to produce their music, but below are some of the teams with high potential, according to Redditors.

Here Are 7 Girl Groups With High Potential to Become Self-Produced:

1. Purple Kiss

Initially known as the sister group of MAMAMOO, Purple Kiss is slowly drifting away from the shadow of their seniors and creating their name with their music.

Since their debut, all members have been credited for writing lyrics for their EPs. If they are given training specializing in music production, they may slay it too!

2. fromis_9

Another girl group with promising potential is fromis_9, who were not only co-credited for writing lyrics but were also involved in composing their music.

Members, particularly Jiwon and Seoyeon, have the best potential as they were seen directing the recording for the b-sidetrack they worked with.

3. Pristin

Although Pristin has already parted ways, the group could have risen as a top self-produced girl group, not to mention that they were a sister team of SEVENTEEN.

Many members composed and wrote their songs, but it's a shame that they only released 2 EPs before disbandment.

4. DIA

Among idol groups, DIA is one of the few groups that play instruments during a performance. They especially showcased these skills when they released their YOLO album.

Shockingly, the members also co-wrote both the lyrics and music for their songs!

5. TWICE

Since 2017, TWICE has been writing lyrics for their releases and as the years go by, they were also involved in the music production process.

Among members, Chaeyoung, Nayeon and Jihyo have the highest potential, according to Reddit users.

6. Weeekly

Although they were still rookies, Weeekly was already lauded for participating in the group's song creation. Jiyoon is their resident composer; unfortunately, she left the team this year due to health issues.

7. WJSN

Last but not least, WJSN can also rise as a self-produced girl group if given more opportunities. In fact, member EXY is actually the sixth female idol with most songs credited by KOMCA in 2022. As of this year, she already has 69 songs credited under her name.
