NMIXX Opens Up on Being 'Compared' With TWICE & ITZY, Pressure as Rookie Girl Group

In a press showcase, NMIXX opened up on the burden of being the youngest girl group sister of TWICE and ITZY, as well as the pressure of competing with top 4th-gen girl groups like aespa, NewJeans and more.

NMIXX Reveals Real Feelings as JYP's Youngest Girl Group, Pressure as Rookie

On the afternoon of September 19, a press showcase was held at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul to commemorate the release of NMIXX's second single "ENTWURF," about seven months after their debut.

In particular, NMIXX is a new girl group that was ambitiously introduced in February under JYP Entertainment. The team is comprised of seven members: Lily, Haewon, Sullyoon, Jinni, Bae, Jiwoo and Kyujin and is pursuing their own genre, "MIXX POP."

On that day, NMIXX expressed the burden they experience as the youngest member of JYP Entertainment, called the "girl group master." This is because the agency is home to legendary girl groups, such as Wonder Girls and Miss A.

Currently, its active teams TWICE and ITZY also established their status as "Nation's Girl Group" and "4th-Gen K-pop Queen," respectively.

In regards to the pressure of being the youngest girl group succeeding them and creating their own name, Haewon confessed:

"It was an honor to debut at a company that is famous for its girl groups, and we are working hard to match the names and reputations of our great seniors.

I think if NMIXX's individuality and charm reach the public a little more, I think we will become a cool group as good as our seniors. We will show you NMIXX working harder."

Following their debut, NMIXX also joined the intense competition among fourth-gen groups, such as aespa, NewJeans and IVE. When asked about the pressure, Haewon added:

"I think it's also an honor to work with cool and amazing people at the same time. Thanks to this, I think this became NMIXX driving force to work a little harder and do more. We will continue to work harder to show NMIXX's unique charm and appearance."

NMIXX Shares More About Creating Own Genre 'MIXX POP'

As the press showcase went on, the "O.O" singers also talked about their second single, "ENTWURF," which contains their confidence and aspirations of seven adventurers. NMIXX aims to pioneer their destiny without giving in to any disturbances. They also delved deeper into their aspiration of making a new genre attempt called, "MIXX POP."

The title song "DICE" contains an interesting narrative of NMIXX against the mystery antagonist who appeared in the dice game. It is a "MIXX POP" genre that combines two or more genres into one song to provide a variety of charms and features sophisticated jazz sound and dynamic song development that crosses hip-hop beats.

Regarding the said genre, Sullyoon expressed confidence, saying:

"I think 'MIXX POP' is an addictive genre that some people have never heard before, and no one can be able to hear just once. I think it will be an addictive song if you listen to it only five times at first."
