Amid Ladies' Code's popularity in the 2010s, an unfortunate accident happened. The group then began promoting as trio. After their last release in 2019, they announced hiatus to focus on their solo activities.
After four years, member Zuny updated on her recent status.
Zuny in 2013 to 2022: Ladies' Code, Group's Hiatus
In 2013, Zuny became known in the K-pop industry after she debuted as Ladies Code's sub-vocals and maknae.
The five-member group immediately rose to stardom after they were introduced to the public, thanks to their outstanding vocals and dance skills. Ladies' Code became notable for their songs "Pretty Pretty," "Bad Girl," and "Kiss Kiss."
With the favorable responses from K-pop fans, they were only starting to cement their position in the music scene when a regrettable accident happened in 2014. The group met a car accident that took away the lives of their two beloved members: Kwon Rise and Go Eunbi (EunB).
They took a hiatus for about a year to heal mentally and physically until 2015, wherein they held a memorial concert along with the release of two songs, "I'm Fine Thank You" and "I'll Smile Even If It Hurts."
In 2016, the then trio group officially made their comeback launching a project, "HEALING TRILOGY – MYST3RY (Part 1), STRANG3R (Part 2) and CODE#R3BORN (Part 3) which ended in 2018.
They had few releases until October 2019 with CODE#03 SET ME FREE until they announced in 2020 that Ladies' Code ended their contract with Polaris Entertainment. The members also confirmed that the trio will have an indefinite hiatus and will focus on their solo activities onwards.
In the same year, Zuny expressed her desire to focus on her career as an actress after delivering the news that she signed with Actorsaid Entertainment under her birth name, Kim Joo Mi.
Where Is Zuny in 2023? Idol Hints at Ladies' Code Comeback
After not appearing in public in about two years, Zuny on January 10 appeared in a YouTube show to update on her recent life.
She revealed that she worked part-time at a cafe for three years when she took a break from Ladies' Code.
"I worked part-time at a cafe at an acquaintance's store and helped as a server. I worked at Garosu-gil. Fans (Lavely) also came to the cafe to play. Otherwise, I can't show them myself directly because I'm not active (as an idol/actress)."
Regarding the accident, Zuny confessed that she was still suffering from the trauma it caused her. In fact, she couldn't ride a bus or car without experiencing flashbacks.
Despite that, she attested to fans about her future activities both as a soloist and group.
As a soloist, she's planning to create a YouTube content, "Zuny's Late Night Restaurant." In this show, the star wants to showcase herself making dishes that will go along well with various drinks. Actress Kim Joo Mi is to be anticipated.
When asked about Ladies Code's future activities, Zuny raised expectations by saying:
"There will be something soon."
