Facebook Instagram Video to Be Unveiled on June 20; Responds to Twitter Videos

Facebook’s Instagram video will be unveiled on June 20, according to published reports.

According to TechCruch, Facebook will unveil its new Instagram video feature on June 20 at a special press event that will be focused primarily on video and Instagram. The small team that is working on the video service for Instagram teased that Facebook and Instagram might have a new feature up their sleeves.

A person who says they have knowledge of the upcoming plans says that the new Facebook Instagram service will be very much like Twitter’s Vine, which service will let users post six-second videos. The new Instagram video service on Facebook would all videos between five and ten seconds.

Vine has been growing quickly. Users say that they have found it to be a worthwhile alternative to tweeting or sharing pictures. Users can record a few seconds of video and share it with friends. Vine videos can also be added to Twitter timelines.

Instagram's Systrom said that the organization is 'not a photography company'

It follows that Facebook would respond to Twitter’s video service. It is unclear what would happen at the June 20 special event. There have also been rumors that Facebook will launch an RSS reader as an alternative to the outgoing Google Reader. Last week, Facebook invited media outlets to learn about a "small team" that "has been working on a big idea."

Facebook will hold its press event at its Menlo Park, Calif., headquarters.
