ZEROBASEONE's Comeback 'CRUSH' Has ZEROSEs Unimpressed for THIS Reason

ZEROBASEONE has left the K-pop community unimpressed with their musical direction for "CRUSH."

Here's what happened.

ZEROBASEONE's 'CRUSH' Receives Unimpressed Reactions from K-Netz, ZEROSEs

On November 6, netizens established a forum discussing ZEROBASEONE's comeback song "CRUSH." There, the original author uploaded a sequence from the music video, followed by the negative remarks of netters.

According to their sentiments, "CRUSH" had failed to impress since ZEROBASEONE started out great with a cheerful concept in "In Bloom." With their debut song's bright nature, the "noisy" aspects in "CRUSH" faded in comparison due to its abrupt transition in sound and concept.

Fans pointed out that the sound wasn't the one they expected after the upbeat vibe of "In Bloom." They also criticized some parts of the song such as its hook, beat, and stated how "CRUSH" sounded like several distinct K-pop groups fused into one song.

Read their comments below:

  •  "The hook of 'CRUSH' was so bad. This was supposed to be the song's most important factor. The 2nd part of the song took over its first part."
  •  "How can they make this type of mistake."
  •  "This is making me realize how good of a song 'In Bloom' was."
  •  "The melody in the can-sounding part before the chorus was okay, but I wonder why they used this type of beat."
  •  "I feel like they tried too hard to follow the trend, I'm not feeling it."

Meanwhile, in a different thread, international fans also agreed with the claims. They were baffled as to why WAKEONE would choose this kind of musical direction for ZEROBASEONE, while others claimed that the group is now reaching out to international audiences.

  •  "I thought companies have realized that construction noise music from boy groups are horrendous and don't get a good response from the public."
  •  "Their debut song was nice. Why didn't they do something similar for their first comeback?"
  •  "They (probably) want to reach or collect more fans in international areas."
  •  "No matter how much international fans scream about wanting more fresh concepts to return in K-pop, they will only pay attention once boy groups start releasing 'darker concept' music."
