Kpop Alumni: 'I Went to College in the States'

While most K-pop idols are busy popping out performance after performance, music video after music video, and variety show after variety show, some do make the time out to ensure they get their education in check. Most idols get their degrees in Korea, some have hit up schools in the states to get their diploma. Here are a list of K-pop idols who possibly went to a school near you!

Solo singer John Park was a student at Northwestern University before he made it in big on "American Idol" and eventually as a singer in Korea. The 25-year-old left Northwestern to pursue a career in music, but was studying to become an Economics major. He was part of an college Acapella group called "Purple Haze." Hopefully Park returns to Chicago to finish up that education and get that degree!

U-KISS's AJ is attempting to do the impossible: school and superstar life. It's almost impossible to attend an Ivy League in the states and somehow attempt to juggle a music career in Korea. AJ has been adamant about letting people know that he is quite aware that his career as an idol will be short-lived and attaining his college degree is just as important. Before leaving Columbia again to get back to U-KISS, AJ was studying at the prestigious Columbia University where he was working to become a psychology major. After a 5-month hiatus, the idol was back with his groupmates and ready to rock the stage again.

Before hitting it big in Korea, NJ-bred singer Ailee was a student at Pratt University in NYC. The 24-year-old was studying communications/journalism, and criminal justice before dropping out to pursue a career in music.

Epik High's Tablo is well known for being a graduate of the prestigious Stanford University. He received a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature and a Master's in Creative Writing. Tablo faced massive controversy when a two fan sites claimed that the hip-hop icon was lying about his degrees from Stanford. Crazy netizens claimed that it was impossible for Tablo to gain both a BA and Masters in just 3 1/2 years and demanded to unveil the truth. The truth was soon unveiled and many were arrested and jailed for their false accusations.

Fly to the Sky's Brian Joo took a break from Hwanhee to attend Rutgers University. Joo's father was adamant about him going to school and left the group for a year to pursue his dad's wishes. He eventually got a degree at Dongguk University in theatre.
