VMAs 2013: One Direction Booed Because MTV Camera Filmed Taylor Swift Reaction To Their Win? Lady Gaga Tells 1D She Wants To Leave Video Music Awards In Response

At the 2013 VMAs, One Direction won Best Song of the Summer award, and was booed by the audience. Is this because they were angry at MTV for immediately showing Taylor Swift's reaction to their win, who is Harry Styles' ex-girlfriend? Lady Gaga told the One Direction boys backstage to ignore the booing.

According to The Mirror live updates, One Direction was booed at the MTV Video Music Awards 2013 when they went on stage to pick up their award for Best Song of the Summer, for their song "Best Song Ever."

But this might not be what you think. The Mirror reports that they might have been booed because MTV had a camera in place to show viewers Taylor Swift's reaction to their win. She is reportedly bitter towards One Direction after her break up from the 1D singer Harry Styles, and to showcase her reaction could be seen as tasteless by fans of One Direction.

Behind the scenes, on MTV's "Thank You Cam," Lady Gaga reportedly told the One Direction boys that she wanted to leave the VMAs in response to the boy band being booed on stage, and that they should ignore the rude reception.

Entertainment Weekly tweeted: "One Direction's win got A LOT of boos."

@iaaronkirk tweeted: "OMG people are boo'ing @onedirection  #VMA #VMAs"

@AustinBloggy posted on Twitter: "Who shows up to the #VMAs to boo One Direction?  What sort of event did these people think they were attending?"

"Gaga's leaving the #VMAs because she doesn't want to be at a place were people boo at the artists who won (One Direction) - SHE'S THE BEST!" @ShaneCalderone tweeted.
