Shia LaBeouf To Retire From Public Life; 'Transformers' Actor Offended With How People Attack His Artistic Integrity

Shia LaBeouf recently expressed his desire to retire from public life because he couldn't take how others attack his artistic integrity. The actor faced a backlash from Twitter users after plagiarizing the work of graphic novelist Daniel Clowes.

"In light of the recent attacks against my artistic integrity, I am retiring from all public life," wrote the 27-year-old actor on his Twitter page. He also didn't waste time in saying how his need to create was hampered by the team of Clowes.

The 'Transformers' actor received a cease and desist letter from Clowes' lawyer and LaBeouf made the letter his Twitter page background. However, all words except "he must stop all efforts to create" have been blurred.

The former Disney star also acknowledged the people who stayed with him: "My love goes out to those who have supported me."

His desire to end his career took place after he borrowed cartoonist Daniel Clowes' novella 'Justin M. Damiano' for a project which he launched last November 2013. Since LaBeouf did not ask for Clowes' permission, the latter then turned to lawyers for violation of his rights.

Last New Year's Eve, the Los Angeles-born actor defended himself by saying that he only mocked the cartoonist instead of stealing his ideas: "You have my apologies for offending you for thinking I was being serious instead of accurately realizing I was mocking you."

"I am sorry for all the plagiarized tweets, they all were unintelligent, ambiguous and needlessly hurtful," he added. He likewise claimed his goal to become a less controversial tweeter for 2014.

Controversy will still follow the 'Disturbia' actor for he will be playing the role of Jerome in the film 'Nymphomaniac' whose first part will be shown on March 21 while the second part on April 18.

He is also presently filming 'Fury' with Brad Pitt but with his recent statement about retirement from public life, there is a possibility that he will not finish his movie commitments.
