When Damon Salvatore died, many fans were disheartened but also left wondering whether Ian Somerhalder would continue to have a part in the hit CW series.

Through his Twitter account, the 35-year-old actor confirms that he's still a part of 'The Vampire Diaries' season 6. However, he first needs to fulfill his fatherly duties before filming.

"Being a Dad... Morning vet visit with moke before heading to my 1st Day of work for SEASON 6 of The Vampire Diaries!" he recently tweeted. His post likewise shows him holding up his cat Moke.

Apart from sharing about his random daddy duties, Nina Dobrev's ex-boyfriend also expressed his gratitude for the supporters of 'Vampire Diaries' as well as his documentary entitled 'Years of Living Dangerously.'

'Years of Living Dangerously' is a 9-part documentary focusing on human-induced climate change. The documentary series shows the impact of the alarming environmental change through first-person narratives.

It has received two Emmy nominations for "Outstanding Documentary or Non-Fiction series" as well as "Outstanding Writing for Nonfiction Programming."

Apart from his Ian Somerhalder foundation which focuses on environmental advocacies, the former 'Lost' actor is likewise known for his compassion for animals.

Just in time for the fifth season premiere of 'Vampire Diaries,' Somerhalder rescued and adopted a dog wandering near the show's set. He later named her Nietzsche.

"so smart, so beautiful&charming-all a man could ask for in a girl-So happy together.Her name is Nietzsche," Somerhalder wrote on Twitter last August 2013.
