Derrick Rose News: Former MVP Still 'Rusty' Says Coach Thibs, Will He Make It In The USA Team Bound For FIBA in Spain?

In recent Derrick Rose news, the former MVP has been reportedly selected as one of the 19 NBA players who will take part in the final camp before Team USA picks its roster for the FIBA World Cup in Spain in late August.

While a number of people were a bit surprised that Rose was included in the list, while 4-time MVP LeBron James is not, that's because Rose needs this basketball exposure more than James does, especially that he needs to prepare his new team for the upcoming NBA season where the expectations for the new-look Cavs are sky high.

But while D-Rose may look like a sure pick already for the USA Team, he may not be at his best yet.

According to a report by the Sun Times, Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau, who is also an assistant for the USA squad, says he loves the improvement and the hardwork Rose has been putting in all the practices.

While Thibs didn't specifically mention that Rose should be on the team, he said that talent-wise, there is no question.

However, he stressed one important factor that could be signs of anxiety to all Bulls fans.

"As long as it goes well, obviously from a talent standpoint," Thibodeau said. "But there's rust that he has to shake off."

Sure, Derrick Rose is a top three point guard and a top seven NBA player when he is healthy, but Chicago will need him to be at his 90 to 100% if they want to have a better run in the Playoffs compared last year where they beaten by a lower-seed Wizards team during the first round.

Fortunately, the Bulls have made crucial acquisitions and improvements this off-season, including veteran forward Pau Gasol from the Lakers, and Euro-star Nikola Mirotic. Young stars Doug McDermott and Tony Snell have emerged as potential back up players who have tremendous upside.

Still, all of Chicago's hopes in making a trip to the Finals for the first time since the Jordan era lies on Rose's health and level of play.
