‘Two And A Half Men’ Gay Adoption Episode: Walden And Alan To Get Married And Adopt Kid; LGBT Group Speaks Out!

A 'Two and a Half Men' gay adoption episode is on the works as per the network's confirmation during the Television Critics Association (TSA) panel. As per chairman Nina Tassler, the show's lead characters Walden (Ashton Kutcher) and Alan (Jon Cryer) will be adopting a child and in order to do so, they will pretend as gays and get married.

The 'Two and a Half Men' gay adoption episode will reportedly stem from Walden's sudden "existential crisis." A health condition will inspire him to make a difference in the world. He then thinks that adopting a child will be his tool to make such difference.

However, realizing that a single man may not be able to adopt a child, he thinks that the only way is for him and Alan to pretend that they're gays and tie the knot. While the 'Two and a Half Men' adoption episode is crucial, Tassler thinks that it actually sends out a positive message.

"I think it's a very positive statement that, 'You know what, I am going to adopt a child as [part of] a gay couple,' and the reality is, he can do that," she told the Hollywood Reporter.

Considering that the LGBT community has thousands of supporters with strong views about marriage and adoption, will the show's creative team come up with a positive episode? Some fans are wondering whether the show is on the verge of earning backlash in its attempt to boost viewership.

Sarah Kate Ellis, the president of Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAAD) has expressed the group's views regarding the episode: "We hope the show will acknowledge not only the progress made in acceptance of gay and lesbian couples, but also the fact that - in many areas of the country - same-sex couples are often under greater scrutiny or still barred from adoption options that straight couples have."
