JK Rowling’s New Book: Author Says Crime Series Will Run Longer Than Harry Potter, Thanks Fans For Support on Twitter

While "Harry Potter" fans may not be getting any new additions to their favorite book series anytime soon, the author behind the wizarding world has not been sitting still! JK Rowling's new book, "The Silkworm", was released in June, and is just one of many escapades the author has planned for Detective Cormoran Strike.

At a crime writing festival in England, JK Rowling said she plans to write many more books in the crime series, which will far outnumber the seven book "Harry Potter' collection.

"One of the things I love about this genre is unlike 'Harry Potter', where there was a through line, where there was an overarching story, a beginning and end, you are talking about discreet stories. So while a detective lives, you can keep giving him cases," The Guardian reported JK Rowling saying.

The megastar author also explained why she used a pseudonym to write her crime series - while she went by her own name to pen the "Harry Potter" hits, she initially slipped under the radar as "Robert Galbraith" for her new literary outing.

The Guardian said JK Rowling did this for her new books because she "wanted to prove to [herself] that [she] could get a book published on the merits of the book," rather than getting published purely because of her "Harry Potter" success.

"A friend of mine said 'Why do you need validation?', and I think possibly you need to be a writer to understand why," said Rowling.

Last month JK Rowling took to Twitter to thank her fans for their support throughout the past years.

"It's been a looooong writing day and it's time to give my fingers a rest. No writer ever had more wonderful fans. Thank you X," the "Harry Potter" author wrote from her jk_rowling Twitter account.

JK Rowling has 3.45 million followers on Twitter, all hanging on for word of a new writing adventure!
