'Dragon Age Inquisition' Release Date, New Gameplay Trailer, Characters, Import Save Rules, And More : Bioware and EA Announce Straight And LGBT Relationship Specifics At San Diego Comic Con[VIDEO]

"Dragon Age Inquisition" release date set for October 7, comic con news, and more.

According to the official forum site of BioWare, "Dragon Age Inquisition" release date is going to be carried exclusively at GameStop locations around the world available on several platforms including PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Players can now make pre-orders of the game with the following choices.

The first is Dragon Age Inquisition Digital Deluxe for $89.90, which includes Skyhold Throne, Red Hart Halla, and Bog Unicorn. Additional packages include the digital soundtrack, bonus digital content, Inquisitor Armour and Armoured Mount. The second is the Standard Edition for $69.90, which only includes the Dragon Age Inquisition game.

The above prices are for the digital versions on Windows PC while the physical versions cost less. "Dragon Age Inquisition Deluxe" physical version for PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 costs $69.99 while standard edition costs $59.99.

After the main events in "Dragon Age 2" which lead the several mages to break free from the Chantry's alleged oppression, "Dragon Age Inquisition" will continue with an inquisitor as the main playable character parallel to "Dragon Age Origins" Grey Warden and "Dragon Age 2 Champion of Kirkwall"

"Dragon Age Inquisition" will have straight, bisexual, and gay character romances because they each tell different stories, BioWare has said.

Lead writer for the Dragon Age series David Gaider made the comments during BioWare's GaymerX2 panel last week titled Building a Better Romance. He explained that since there were only four character romances in Dragon Age II, they were all bisexual because the team wanted to make sure every player had some type of choice.

"In Inquisition we got the go ahead to include a lot more total romances, so the decision was made that we don't need to compromise," Gaider said. "So we are going to have straight romances, alongside bisexual romances, alongside gay romances. I thought that was pretty important because those are different stories to tell." This is why, for example, Inquisition includes characters like Dorian, who will only romance other men.

You can hear the rest of the panel in the YouTube video below. It's a great listen if you're interested in the process and design challenges in building these romance stories in the Dragon Age series and BioWare games in general. I also highly recommend BioWare's other GaymerX2 panel, Freaking out the Neighbors, about how and why games should be more inclusive.

Whatever your thoughts are of LGBTQ or GaymerX, Bioware did drop a bombshell at the event, namely, that Iron Bull would be a romance option for every race and gender. So, in a similar vein, Comic-Con might see a major announcement as well. If they're following the theme of the con here, they may announce a spinoff comic.

Now, for some technical stuff. Replying to a fan question, Mike Laidlaw explained that the camera will not be locked to the cursor at all. He says you can compare it to an RTS, so you can imagine that when you shift to tactical mode, the pointer will move across the map if you drag it outwards until you stop.

"Dragon Age Inquisition" will return the players to the world of Thedas focused in Ferelden and Orlais. Moreover, some characters from "Dragon Age Origins" and "Dragon Age 2" are going to make special appearances including Morrigan, Flemeth and Cassandra Pentaghast.

Dragon Age Inquisition launches October 7 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC. For more, check out GameSpot's incredibly thorough previous coverage.
