'Hyrule Warriors' Wii U Update: 'Legend Of Zelda' Spinoff Announces New Characters Darunia, Princess Ruto, New Trailer Released, See Link's Power Glove Here [VIDEO]

Famitsu has just outed three new playable characters for "Hyrule Warriors" with "Ocorana of Time's" Darunia and Princess Ruto joining Sheik in the roster.

Sheik should need no introduction. Reacting to Ganondorf's threat in disguise, Princess Zelda pretends to be a member of the Sheikah tribe, directing Link throughout most of the game.

Sheik has just been separated from Zelda in "Super Smash Bros 4," but there is no explanation yet on who Sheik is in "Hyrule Warriors."

They may not be as famous, but Darunia and Princess Ruto are interesting additions too. Darunia is the odd male character here, in much the same way he is the odd male Sage. He is leader of the Gorons a Sworn Brother to Link, and surprisingly, a song-and-dance man. I suspect Darunia won't just be bringing his brawn, but his musical ways over to help defend Hyrule. Like Midna, he may start off as an antagonist first as well.

Princess Ruto is another Sage, a princess of her race, the Zoras, and can claim to having become Link's fiancée, if at least temporarily. The Zora themselves are longtime allies of the Royal Family of Hyrule, so she may be entering the battle at Queen Zelda's behest. We don't know if Ruto, or for that matter, Darunia, will be given their abilities as a Sage, but we are sure they are bringing their armies to bear down on Hyrule's enemies. You can get a small look at the Famitsu screen (low resolution for now) here.

Also, new gameplay trailer has been released for Hyrule Warriors taking a look at Link's special Power Gloves.

Link's Power Gloves give him tons of punching power. Expect to see Link pick up big boulders with ease and hurling them at his enemies. The level that was shown briefly takes a look at the boss battle against "The Imprisoned". This was the annoying boss "Skyward Sword" players had to face three times. Many have called him to be one of the worst Legend of Zelda bosses of all time. Hopefully he is not so annoying in Hyrule Warriors.

As noted in previous reports, Hyrule Warriors is a different take from a normal Legend of Zelda game. Here, you can choose to play as other characters other than Link. You also get to choose what type of weapon you want to use before you enter a stage. However, only one weapon can be used per stage. You cannot change weapons once you enter a level sadly.

As of now, Hyrule Warriors now has 10 known playable characters.

The last character announced as playable was Fi from Skyward Sword. Agitha from Twilight Princess is also playable, as is newcomer Lana.

The Famitsu article also states that Lana and Impa will each have a second weapon. More details will come on Thursday when this Famitsu issue releases.

Koei Tecmo released a video today showing off Link's destructive ball and chain. We should expect videos of the new playable characters after the Famitsu issue releases.

"Hyrule Warriors" launches September 19 in Europe, September 20 in Australia, and September 26 in North America for the Wii U.
