Lucy Lawless Joining Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.; Xena, The Warrior Princess Brings Her Chakram to the Spy Series, But Don’t Tell Anyone, This Is A Level Seven Secret

Lucy Lawless, The iconic Warrior Princess from "Xena" has joined "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Oh Zeus almighty, this is great news. Since losing her head and leaving Gabrielle to fend for herself in the mythical ancient Greece, Lawless lent her muscular talents to "The X-Files" and starred on the Starz Roman epic gladiator series "Spartacus."

TV Guide broke the news that Lucy Lawless, who was out of this world on "Battlestar Galactica" and down to earth on the comedy "Parks and Recreation" will appear in "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." for Season 2.

Now, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is a spy show and in keeping with their commitment to secrecy, Marvel is keeping the role a level 7 secret. Neither Marvel nor ABC has said how long Lawless will be appearing on on the ABC series or who her character will be. Representatives for Lawless have also been sworn to secrecy.

But secrets are made to be leaked and the best place to leak them is at this weekend's Comic-Con which happens in San Diego. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be hosting a panel.

Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, who run "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" will speaking today, July 25 at 3:00 p.m. in Ballroom 20.

"Agents of SH.I.E.L.D," is a TV spin-off that sprung out of Clark Gregg's Agent Coulson character from the Marvel movies "The Avengers" and "Iron Man." ABC renewed the series for a second season in May. The network also announced that they will add "Marvel's Agent Carter," which stars "Captain America's" Hayley Atwell, to its roster.

ABC President of Entertainment Paul Lee recently said "It's wonderful to have assets, two on ABC, and, of course, we have the shows that we're producing for Netflix, that really are part of the Marvel universe, and I think it was groundbreaking the way we took stories and we moved them back and forth between theatrical and television. We have no specific plans that I can talk about now, but it's something that I know the Marvel universe think about long and hard. And I know it's something that was very successful. If you think about S.H.I.E.L.D., we clearly found a little bit of time to find our sea legs, but once we did that extraordinary interplay between the two of them, the cross fertilization, it brought a whole load of creativity to our back nine, and that's why the back nine built. And that's why the fans started to love the show. So it's a valuable thing to do."

The second season of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D"  will air on ABC starting on Sept. 23.
