For those of you still praying for the "HIMYM" spin-off series "How I Met Your Dad" to get picked up in the near future, those dreams have been dashed. "HIMYM" and "How I Met Your Dad" creator confirmed on Twitter this month that they are no longer working on the spin-off. However, CBS still thinks it has "another shot" at succeeding.

Creator and producer Carter Bays shared on Twitter with "HIMYM" fans:

I don't know why I keep reading articles about this, but since nobody bothers asking us: We are really, truly not working on HIMYD anymore.

Looks like Bays is confirming that "How I Met Your Dad" is dead. This is because CBS entertainment chairman Nina Tassler previously said that the spin-off of "HIMYM" had "another shot" at getting ordered to series... but only if the pilot was re-shot. Bays' affirmation that the creators are no longer working on the show sounds like it's over.

As we previously reported, Tassler stressed the importance of casting by using 'The Big Bang Theory' pilot re-shoot as an example. Originally, star Kaley Cuoco wasn't in the hit sitcom's pilot.

"As I've said many, many times, 'Big Bang' would not be 'Big Bang' without having re-done that pilot," she said. "I can't imagine Kaley Cuoco not being part of that show."

Despite her hesitation with the cast, Tassler said that there's still hope for "How I Met Your Dad."

"[Producers] Craig [Bays] and Carter [Thomas] and Emily [Spivey], we adore those guys, we want very much to stay in business with them," Tassler said, adding, "We'd love the opportunity to take another shot."

As we previously reported, Deadline points out that the comedy could be picked up as an online exclusive on Netflix, and broadcast networks FOX and NBC are also eyeing the pilot.

The "How I Met Your Dad" pilot starred Greta Gerwig, Nicholas D'Agosto, Andrew Santino, Tiya Sircar, Drew Tarver, Anders Holm, and Meg Ryan providing narration for the older version of Gerwig's character.
