Girl Meets World pilot episode scores solid ratings attracting a whopping 5.2 million total viewers on cable network when it aired on Disney Channel last month.

Here are more behind the scene photos featuring the whole cast on set.

However, IGN is first to release a review about the highly-anticipated Disney spin-off saying that the show may be "too kiddy."

"As a followup to ABC's Boy Meets World, Disney Channel's Girl Meets World turns the spotlight on Cory Matthews' 11-year-old daughter Riley, who's ready to make her own mark on the world. Along for the ride is Riley's best friend Maya, who acts a surrogate Shawn Hunter and overall disruptor. On the bright side, GMW has all the same ingredients as its predecessor and includes plenty of references to the original series. Naturally, some Boy Meets World fans may find the new show too 'kiddy' to enjoy on its own, but if the goal is to introduce a new generation to the "...Meets World" world, then I'd say this iteration is well on its way to achieving just that."

It has been 14 years since Disney last aired "Boy Meets World" and now Topanga and Cory are back in a spinoff titled "Girl Meets World."

However, "Boy Meets World" sequel is shot in a different setting, not in Philly anymore, but where?

Well the Matthews have moved to New York and executive producer and co-creator Michael Jacobs answers why.

"We made it clear that the kids were going to try their luck in New York City in the finale of 'Boy Meets World,' " Jacobs told Philly.com via email."Topanga received an internship at a New York City law firm where she still works, so the family is raising their children there.
"However, Cory's parents and his brother Josh still live in Philadelphia, and Cory and Topanga are very proud of the city that raised them! In fact, Philadelphia is mentioned fondly in [the episode we are shooting this week]," Jacobs added.

Here's a dialogue from the series that features the resemblance between Cory and her daughter Riley.

"How long do I have to live in my father's world?" Riley frustratingly asked after failing an attempt to sneak out a window. Cory, her dad, responded, "Until you make it yours." Then just like in the original series, Topanga arrives and everything turns out to be all right.

Girl Meets World features the life of Cory and Topanga's pre-teen daughter, Riley Matthews, played by Rowan Blanchard, and her best friend, Maya Fox, played by Sabrina Carpenter. Disney Channel's new series is expected to make its debut sometime this summer.

GMW will focus on the family life of Cory and Topanga, while most of the original cast will also be back to reprise their roles in the spinoff trailer.

A reunion was held in June 2013, when most of the cast members were present and Michael Jacobs managed to spill out some juicy revelations about Shawn Hunter's character, saying:

"Nothing good happens to Shawn, that's all I can tell you," Jacobs laughed. "Rider reacting to the hurdles that keep growing is what I think is compelling about Shawn. Rider once said something -- and I really take to heart everything that these people say 'I keep Shawn in the cellar, and every once in a while, I'll go down and I'll visit him.' And I thought to myself, 'boy, even Rider keeps Shawn in the cellar,' so I think nothing good is ever gonna happen for Shawn." So don't expect a happy story between Shawn and Angela in Girl Meets World then.
