Tara Reid Warns Sharknado Can Happen, Ian Ziering and Vivica Fox Give Tips for Surviving a Sharknado Storm

Tara Reid took her Sharknado role seriously. More seriously than the producers, who called the sequel to the surprise summer SyFy hit Sharknado, Sharknado 2, The Second One.

That might be because Tara Reid, trained in comedies like "Josie and the Pussycats" and "American Pie," fully commits to a joke. But Reid doesn't see her role in the low-budget television films, Sharknado and Sharknado 2: The Second One, as being very funny.

Speaking at a recent teleconference, Reid Said "Even though the situation was crazy, you had to play it serious. If you were playing it, laughing all the time, the story line wouldn't even make sense. It's like taking it serious in such an absurd, crazy environment and that's where the jokes come in. That's where it gets funny, so you really do have to commit to your character and also know what you are playing. And being in that situation that you're in and playing it serious, then there comes in the humor."

But it doesn't stop there. The "American Pie: actress says Sharknado is a cautionary tale because a sharknado storm may lie in our future.

Tara Reid thinks a shark attack on New York is not as far-fetched as it might seem.

In an interview with QG magazine Tara Reid warned "You know, it actually can happen. I mean, the chances of it happening are very rare, but it can happen actually. Which is crazy. Not that it-the chances of it are, like, you know, it's like probably 'pigs could fly.' Like, I don't think pigs could fly, but actually sharks could be stuck in tornados. There could be a sharknado."

Other Sharknado stars were quick to lend their own advice.

Ian Ziering, who plays a character named Fin in the upcoming Sharknado sequel, told GQ "The most terrifying tornado would be probably be full of lawyers. Get yourself the biggest, badass chainsaw you can find and hope for the best," Zierling said.

Mark McGrath, who just joined the Sharknado franchise says you'd do better if you pick up your own personal Ian Zierling. He can be found in the power tool section of your local Home Depot.

"It was exciting that the first one was such a hit, but I don't think that changed how we performed or affected us any way like that," Reid told UPI. "We were hoping to make another big, fun film that people would enjoy."

McGrath warns that people "have to stay calm, OK? Because everybody else is freaking out. And you have to be good friends with Ian Ziering. If you're part of Ian's group, you got a fifty/fifty chance of survival."

"Definitely go to the top of a roof, get some bombs and make sure you have on an awesome, powerful wetsuit," added Vivica Fox.

"Sharknado 2: The Second One" premieres on Aug. 21. It also stars Kari Wuhrer.
