Ariana Grande Problem With Her Dad Revealed; 'Bang Bang' Songstress Opens Up About Family Issues, Insecurities, And Grandpa's Death

The success of Ariana Grande's 'Problem' single as well as her 'Bang Bang' collaboration with Nicki Minaj and Jessie J might make some think that all is well with young songstress. However, in her recent interview with Seventeen magazine, Jai Brooks' girlfriend opened up about personal issues.

One of Ariana Grande's problems was her previous falling out with her father: "It's private, but it happened last year. It took me so long to be okay with it. The thing that got me there was embracing the fact that I am made up of half my dad, and a lot of my traits come from him. So much of me comes from my father, and for so long, I didn't like that about myself."

"I had to accept that it's okay not to get along with somebody and still love them," added the 'Sam & Cat' star. Grande says that everything used to be a big deal for her but she eventually learned how to be calm and how to accept things that did not go as planned.

She similarly talked to Seventeen magazine about how she dealt with her haters: "It's tough to spend some of the most important years of your life in front of so many strangers who want to pick you apart."

"Insecurity has been the hardest thing I've had to overcome. I think everyone my age struggles with that because everyone strives for approval and wants to feel loved," she admitted.

In the same interview, she also talked about her sick grandfather, Frank. As per the 'Put Your Heart Up' songstress, she is not focused much on her career peak because of her grandfather.

Her interview with the teen magazine took place before her grandfather died at the age of 90.

"This interview took place before I lost my grandfather. Reading it back now is, of course, very hard but I'm so grateful that I spoke briefly about some of the wisdom he shared with me in this interview. I hope the Seventeen readers find it helpful and can relate," she said.

Ariana Grande's Seventeen cover for its September 2014 issue will come out on August 5.
