Allison Williams is confirmed as the star of NBC’s ‘Peter Pan Live’ 2014, but only after narrowly beating ‘Modern Family’ Jesse Tyler Ferguson to take the role of Peter Pan. Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s audition at the casting call was so good that he decided to share it on his Instagram.

The ‘Modern Family’ star captioned the video, “My audition video for Peter Pan on NBC. They said I was too sexy for the role. Oh well. At least my flying was on point.”

Jesse Tyler Ferguson can fly, he can fly, he can fly! And all without the magical fairy dust. If they had to break the tradition of casting women for the titular character, he would have be a great Peter Pan. The ‘Modern Family’ star is right though. He is a little too sexy for NBC’s ‘Peter Pan Live’ 2014. There are kids watching the show, for goodness sake!

Allison Williams’ role announcement for the role was preemptively done by her too proud father, Brian Williams, who just couldn’t hold back the good news on national TV.

Once the cat was out of the bag, the social media exploded with congratulations and good wishes for Allison Williams, about to take on one of the most iconic roles of the century.

‘Girls’ co-star Lena Dunham made an overjoyed proclamation on Twitter, even with the profanity aside:

Guess Lena wasn’t at the casting call for the NBC’s second live musical feature. Maybe she would like to take back her word after seeing the ‘Modern Family’ star’s amazing flying skills.

Poor Jesse Tyler Ferguson. He was so good in the underwater audition for ‘Peter Pan Live’ 2014. And he is a veteran stage actor too, appearing in last year’s ‘Love Labours Lost’ for Public Theatre’s Shakespeare in the Park. Guess NBC won’t know what it’s missing out on.

Being “too sexy” for the role isn’t a bad reason for not getting the part! Keep the sexy coming, Jesse!
