In the "Gotham" TV series, Maroni is looking to expand his territory and he will have to fight it out with another gangster, Carmine Falcone, to be played by John Doman.

Meanwhile, Jada Pinkett Smith dished out more "Gotham" TV series spoilers toTVGuide when she said that her character, Fish Mooney, has a penchant to using a baseball bat against her enemies.

"It gets pretty dark because Gotham is Gotham. You're going to see what Gotham is and why we needed Batman," she told the website.

She told host Arsenio Hall in his TV show earlier that fans would be surprised by how she will play Fish Mooney.

"I'm very excited about that (character) because she's quite unique but I think I'm going to surprise people with how I play this particular villain and her vicious ways," she said during her appearance on the "Arsenio Hall Show."

Creator Bruno Heller told TVLine: "If there is a superhero in the show, it's [the city of] Gotham. It's a larger-than-life character."

He added that ordinary humans doing heroic things are more interesting that superheroes."Superheroes do the impossible and drama is really about the physically possible. This is about people and people trying to overcome real problems as opposed to trying to learn how to fly," he said.
