Anwan Glover Stabbed Update: Anwan Glover was treated for a laceration after he was reportedly stabbed and kicked in a D.C. nightclub early Sunday.

Anwan Glover told the police that an unknown person punched him and another person hit him on the head when he was at Café Asia early on Sunday. Glover told police he was kicked repeatedly and felt sharp pain in his side.

Glover's manager, Tiffany Turner, confirmed that Anwan was attacked by several unknown people after his musical group gave a performance in Columbia, Md.

Turner told MyFoxDC.com "Anwan is no stranger to challenges and struggle, he has overcome many. It is unfortunate that a 'man of the people' or anyone for that matter, cannot attend events without the possibility of injury just by being a bystander."

Glover took to Instagram to say "As many of you are aware, i was involved in an incident last night. While supporting another band, at their show, I was involved in an altercation with some unknown people. While defending myself, I was stabbed. I was hospitalized and have been released. I am not a stranger to adversity and when shown hate, I'm going to spread love. I am recovering and will be back soon. My flesh may be stabbed but my spirit is unbreakable. I want to thank all of my fans, followers and friends for their inquiries, we'll wishes, prayers and love. I love you all back and I'm always going to love my city. - G #FYI- I lost my phone and will get my new one tomorrow. Much love Anwan Big G Glover."

The Washington Post cited a police report saying Glover was treated at George Washington University Hospital for a laceration on the right side of his torso. His condition was not immediately released. Police are appealing for witnesses.

Anwan Glover played Slim Charles, a gang member on the series "The Wire" on HBO. Glover also appeared in the award-winning film "Twelve Years a Slave."

Anwar Glover lives in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The Post reported that Glover was shot 13 times while growing up. The actor started an anti-violence campaign in 2007 after his brother was shot dead. Glover's son was wounded in a shooting at a party in 2011.
