A few days after Cassidy Stay survived the Texas shooting which took away her parents and four siblings' lives, the 15-year-old received an encouraging letter from JK Rowling. She got the 'Harry Potter' author's attention after publicly quoting Albus Dumbledore.

"Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light," Stay quoted.  Many were inspired by Stay's strength following the tragic incident which prompted the creation of "We want JK Rowling to meet Cassidy Stay" Facebook page.

On August 4, a post from the page confirmed that JK Rowling indeed sent something special for the Texas shooting's sole survivor: "This afternoon, I talked to a friend of Cassidy's who confirmed that JK Rowling did, in fact, write her a personalized letter from 'Dumbledore' (hand-written with purple ink). She was also sent a wand, an acceptance letter to Hogwarts with a school supply list, along with the 3rd book with JK's autograph."

Rowling's spokesperson Rebecca Salt likewise confirmed the news to Crimesider but refused to divulge the contents of the letter.

On July 9, Cassidy Stay was able to survive the shooting by playing dead. The gunman has been identified as Ronald Lee Haskell, the former husband of her aunt. Haskell is now facing multiple charges of capital murder.

Killed in the tragic incident were parents Stephen, 39, and Katie, 33, and their children ages 14, 9, 7, and 4.

"I know that my mom, dad, Bryan, Emily, Becca and Zach are in a much better place and that I'll be able to see them again one day," said Cassidy Stay during the memorial service held at Spring-based Lemm Elementary School.

A fundraising campaign was similarly raised to support Cassidy's future specifically her medical expenses after sustaining injuries from the incident. In a span of 28 days, the Go Fund Me campaign has already raised $400,000 from over 7,000 donors worldwide.
