Asus Transformer Book T100 review, specs: The 2-in-1 tablet sports a 10.1-inch IPS LCD touchscreen, Windows 8.1 OS, 32 GB or 64 GB internal storage, and a 2 GB RAM, all powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core Bay Trail Atom.

The tablet-notebook hybrids are one of the hottest devices in the market as they slowly make their way up to replace laptops. With the growing trend, the competition is getting steep. And here is where the Asus Transformer Book T100—impressive specs on paper and price tag that give other hybrids a run for their money.

Seen as a successor of the Asus VivoTab, the Transformer Book T100 is said to be the cheaper match of the Microsoft Surface Pro 2. Regardless which hybrid it is being compared to, this tablet gives a promise of sound quality and performance.

Measuring 10.4 x 6.7 x 0.41 inches and weighing 544 grams, the Transformer Book T100 is considered as one of the lightest Windows tablets, but not the slimmest one. Meanwhile, having an entire plastic body has its pros and cons. On a positive note, the tablet’s plastic body has a slightly rough texture at the back which allows it to cling to your hand or any surface easier. On the other hand, because the body is plastic, it doesn’t have that premium finish or solid feel.

There are two main downsides of this tablet. One is the lack of a rear camera. There is only a 2 MP front camera that is only good for selfies and video chat.

The second problem is the incredibly low resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, which translates to a pixel density of 155 ppi. Good thing the Asus T100 makes up for it with a bright and colorful display.

Under the hood, its quad-core Bay Trail Atom delivers a solid performance. Because of its double functions, the internal storage could have used an extra kick, though.

In spite of its shortcomings, the Asus Transformer Book T100 is an overall people pleaser. It delivers a solid body, bright screen, and a sound performance at a reasonable price.
