Moto 360 Watch Price, Release Date: Android Wear Powered Gadget May Retail For $249; Will Be Avail. ‘This Summer’

Moto 360 Watch price, release date: Since the release of the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live last July, the public is getting more and more excited about the launch of the third Android Wear.

However, Motorola is still sticking to its vague announcement that the Moto 360 will be available in the US this “summer”. Planning to stand out against the two square-shaped wearables, the circular smartwatch is Google’s best defense against the upcoming Apple iWatch that is also rumored to be released this year.

Motorola recently hinted that its Moto 360 will probably retail around $249. If this pushes through, it would be more expensive than the LG G Watch ($229) and the Samsung Gear Live ($200), with the same price as the Pebble Steel.

Although its price tag is a bit higher than its competition, the Moto 360 is still a reasonable deal if it also pushes through with its wireless charging, circular screen, and premium sapphire glass.

Because of its smart orientation-free design, the company has also confirmed that the Moto 360 can be worn on either the left or right hand.

There are also rumors floating that the Motorola smartwatch’s screen will be a custom-made OLED display, which is good news for its battery life. This is because OLED screens consume up to 40 percent less power when displaying black images than LCDs because they can turn off individual pixels. However, it doesn’t have the same effect on white backgrounds.

In TechRadar’s bench test, it was confirmed that LG and Samsung's smartwatches can take up a fully charged battery up to a day and a half with dimmed displays. With this, Motorola may need to step up its battery because no one really wants to charge a watch before the day ends.

With all the anticipation and speculations floating around, the pressure is on for the Moto 360. Many critics are already saying that it is bound to be Google’s best Android Wear device. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see if the prophecy is true.
