Ann Coulter Blames Doctor for Catching Ebola; Christians Have Turned Their Last Cheek for Coulter, Evangelicals Say She Doesn’t Speak for Them

Ann Coulter blamed the Ebola Doctor for catching the disease in a recent piece. Ann Coulter has put her foot back in her mouth as far as other Christians are concerned. A group of Evangelicals took to social media to say that Ann Coulter only speaks herself when she criticizes the Christian Ebola Doctor.

In a post titled "Ebola Doc's Condition Downgraded to 'Idiotic,'" the conservative commentator argued that Dr. Kent Brantly should do good deeds in America before he serves in a Third World country. Ann Coulter told the American doctor who contracted Ebola from helping patients in Africa that his actions were "idiotic!"

In a post for Human Events, conservative commentator Ann Coulter wrote "Whatever good Dr. Kent Brantly did in Liberia has now been overwhelmed by the more than $2 million already paid by the Christian charities Samaritan's Purse and SIM USA just to fly him and his nurse home in separate Gulfstream jets, specially equipped with medical tents, and to care for them at one of America's premier hospitals."

Dr. Kent Brantly is back in the U.S. for treatment. He is being treated for Ebola in isolation at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Coulter claimed that the doctor cost money for the charity he was serving because they had to fly him to the United States for care. Brantly works for Samaritan's Purse, which is run by conservative evangelist Franklin Graham.

"If Dr. Brantly had practiced at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles and turned one single Hollywood power-broker to Christ, he would have done more good for the entire world than anything he could accomplish in a century spent in Liberia," she wrote.

Conservative pundit Erick Erickson took to Tweeter to tell Coulter "St. Thomas should never have gone to India and Jim Elliott should never have gone to the jungle."

LifeWay Research division president Ed Stetzer took to Twitter to say "If you let @AnnCoulter define God's mission, you're doing it wrong: https://bit.ly/V4pU77 #JumpingTheMissionShark."

In a recent interview Stetzer said "Sometimes, the best thing we can do is to listen to another part of the Bible called Proverbs, which talks a lot about people who speak too soon and too often. If she thinks evangelizing the rich and influential is more important than saving the lives of the poor and forgotten, she might want to lean into the Gospels a bit more. We can both show the love of Jesus and share it at the same time."

Stetzer added, "When it comes to God's mission, I'm going to listen to an Ebola infected medical missionary over Ann Coulter."

Standing Wituh Hope President Peter Rosenberger wrote in the opinion section of FoxNews.com that "Ann Coulter doesn't speak for anyone other than Ann Coulter. For us, going on a mission field is not about escaping anything in America, but rather promoting what is best about America: freedom and compassion."

LifeWay Research division president Ed Stetzer, wrote "Along the way, we have the personal benefit of participating in the humility of service that mirrors what our Lord did on our behalf. Christ took the ultimate mission trip when he went to, as Ann Coulter would describe it, the 'disease ridden cesspool' of this world and offered salvation"

"Through my own experience working in West Africa, I feel I've become a better American. I've come to treasure my country more, feel more passionate and get more involved in issues here, and have developed a deeper faith through the process," writes Rosenberger.

Coulter also recently hit out at RandPaul on CNN saying "I think it's a little like a compass. It used to be whatever would please 15-year-old Ayn Rand readers was his position. Now, it's whatever will please basically the mainstream media. I wish he'd just pick a position and go with it, even if - in fact, especially if the media hates it. If it's against what most people think I'd have a lot more respect for someone who takes an unpopular position, defends it and sticks to it - and, I might add, that's what his father used to do."
