Although Yuna Kim has been keeping out of the spotlight since her retirement, her boyfriend, professional hockey player Kim Won Joong, has brought the pair back under media scrutiny with a recent Sport Chosun article.

The article alleges that while under a special physical military training camp in Ilsan, Kim Won Joon took secret drives from the camp to Thai massage parlors, a violation of army guidelines in South Korea.

"The military immediately stripped them of their athlete status, and had them serve their remaining terms in the unit without special recognition," said vice ministry Wi Yong Seop according to 24-7KPop.

Kim was reportedly involved in a car accident on July 30, on his way back from the massage parlor and sustained a ligament rupture on his right knee. Because of this incident, news also got out that the hockey player, four other soldiers,and their coach have been keeping these visits a secret for over a month.

Koreaboo reported that Kim Won Joong and the other aspiring soldiers involved in this scandal have been kicked out of special training camp and sent back to their respective army divisions to finish their mandatory military service.

This news is particularly troubling to actor Yoo Gun, since the alleged rulebreaker is the boyfriend of Yuna Kim, one of the most celebrated celebrities in Korea.

“I had no idea that the two were dating," Yoo said, who defended Yuna's new boyfriend in light of the new allegations.

"Won Joong Kim is a very charming guy. He has the looks and also has a sensitive personality. He takes care of others very well and has a big heart."

According to Soompi, Yuna Kim and 29-year-old boyfriend Won Joong Kim have been dating for three years.

The pair met at the 2012 Winter Olympics.
