Queen And Adam Lambert Tour 2014: Guitarist Brian Says More Shows Possible; ‘American Idol’ Alum Honors Freddie Mercury By Being Himself

Expect more schedules and arenas from the Queen and Adam Lambert tour 2014 as guitarist Brian May said that the "American Idol" alum has injected new enthusiasm into the band. The vocal powerhouse, meanwhile, is honoring the legacy of Freddie Mercury by being himself.

Brian May admitted to VH1 that they thought the Queen and Adam Lambert tour could be their last as he, along with Roger Taylor, fades from the limelight. He didn't really have much expectation from the tour, but the opposite happened.

Now Queen guitarist Brian May thinks that the band has a future with Adam Lambert on the mic, as they are now thinking about doing ore shows.

"I feel so fortunate to be going out there. I never thought it would happen again. When Freddie went, I thought, 'That's it. We did that. It was a great life. Now, it's time to have a different life', and for years, we didn't try to be Queen in any way," he said.

"I think he's (Lambert) woken us up," Brian May added.

Meanwhile, in an interview with the Advocate in the midst of the Queen and Adam Lambert tour, the "American Idol" alum hinted that he's honoring the legacy of Freddie Mercury by being true to himself.

"I'm Adam onstage. I'm not playing Freddie. I'm not trying to be him. However, he's so amazing. His recordings and his performances were so incredible that I can't help but be inspired by them," he said. "And on a technical level, I don't want to move too far away from the music that they've created, but I do want to put my own stamp on everything."

He also shared that it's continually a huge challenge to headline the Queen and Adam Lambert tour because "there's been a lot of expectation and doubt."

"You have a mix of people in the audience that are diehard Queen fans, and I have my fans that are coming to the show kind of through me. It's interesting bringing them all together and seeing how it all plays out," he explained.
